Klein was born and raised in Irvine, California. He was born on May 9, 1984. He is 40 years old as of 2024. Ezra originates from a Jewish background where his father Abel Klein teaches mathematics at the University of California Irvine and his mother Jacqueline Klein practices art.

Klein attended the University of California Santa Cruz for two years before moving to UCLA for his tertiary education. The completion of his education at UCLA in 2005 awarded him a political science degree.
